What is a password manager?

A password manager is an app that stores all your usernames, passwords, and other secrets in one encrypted vault, then autofills them for you and creates strong, unique passwords for every account. You unlock the whole vault with a single master password (or, in LegendPass, your biometrics).

Instead of reusing one password everywhere — or keeping a spreadsheet of logins — a password manager acts as a locked digital keychain. It remembers every credential so you don't have to. That's what makes it the single most effective upgrade to your online security.

How does a password manager work?

Here is the three-part pipeline that makes a good password manager work:
